How does applying to college as undeclared influence admission decisions?

I know that at some schools it influences it more than others, and some schools ';dont really care';.....but honestly, would it hurt my chances of getting into a certain college if my major is undeclared? why/why not? please be specific, thanks!!How does applying to college as undeclared influence admission decisions?
Most colleges understand that incoming freshmen don't know what they want to do yet- that's what college is there for: to help you figure it out. I doubt that they would look at it as a bad thing. It's good to have goals, and if you know what you want to do, then put that down. But if you don't, then you are like the other 99% of incoming freshmen, and most schools won't hold that against you.





It might be an idea to even call the recruiting office and ask them what percentage of freshmen declare their majors within the first semester. I bet they will give you a very low number.





Many schools today don't even allow freshmen to do so, as they know most of them change as they learn what else is out there.
