I think you'll find SAS personnel are recruited from within the existing services e.g the Army, Navy, RAF and the Marines. How do you apply to the sas? do you need previous military experience?
If you wish to apply for 22 SAS you need to be a regular soldier in teh British Army and have completed 2 years as already stated.
However you can apply directly to the two Territorial Army Units 21 SAS or 23 SAS. These are still very tough outfits and you require a high degree of fitness and motivation.
You'd probably be best join The Parachute Regiment for a few years prior to trying for the SAS. Then you will have some experience of being a solider. How do you apply to the sas? do you need previous military experience?
From what I have learnt myself. You must have at least 3/5 years of experience in the Armed Forces (however its most unusual for RN or RAF personnel) and then you must have your name put forward by your Commanding Officer or XO. Also rules on eligibility are more stringent with detailed security checks on everyone close to you. You will be asked to attend selection so only those who are best go through.
However you may not be sent to join the SAS in the end, you maybe sent to join the SBS which is made up of mostly RMs, the Mobility Troop who specialise in transport and mountain troop who specialise in mountain climbing, trekking etc.
Nope.
Join the Army or the Royal Marines. The Parachute Regiment supplies a lot of men to the SAS.
It should be pointed out that the only people who get into the SAS are the best men the military can supply. Considering the Royal Marines state, quite accurately, that 99.9% need not apply, you should take it as 99% of those who are good enough to join the Royal Marines will not get into the SAS.
4 years, experience in the Armed Forces preferably the Army, as soldering skills are required, i think they only take applicants, from the army or UKSFSG, RAFreg, RM, i'm not to sure
you apply once your in the Armed Forces, you ask your superior for information etc, you don't get chosen, as which the other people have said, you HAVE to volunteer to go on selection, you may be recomended by an officer, but you have to volunteer,
you have to be between the ages of 18-30
most regiments will run training programs for any one interested in joining the SAS,
once you have applied or the SAS, you have to go through a selection process, to see if your fit enough for the SAS training, the selction process is around 18 weeks long, and is one of the most hardest things you will have to do,, you'll do, fitness test including, endurance tests, 24 hour marches, point-to-point marches, then you do jungle exercises, in brunei or malaysia you do interrogation training aswell which only the best survive, even then you still have go through training after that, in which your still liable to be kicked out and sent back to your own regiment.
the SAS isn't for any person who thinks that they sound cool, they are some of the most skilled soldiers on the planet, far better than any american SF you see in movies, the training is harder the the USMC, and Delta force, put together, unless your seriously determined and good enough, and have mental toughness, you aint get getting passed the first few days, seriously
I am not going to 'guess', but just post some info from other military websites and give something for your research to answer your questions.
Selection and Training
Commanding Officer (CO) Major John Woodhouse introduced SAS Selection in 1952. Before that, troopers had earned their credentials in the field.
SAS Selection and Training is the most demanding military training course in the British Army: it reportedly has a pass rate of less than 10%. It is a test of strength, endurance, and resolve over the Brecon Beacons and Elan Valley in Wales, and in the jungle of Brunei. The Namib Desert is also used as a desert training ground. 'Selection' takes around 6 months to complete.
Selection is held twice a year regardless of conditions. A candidate must be male and have been a regular member of the Armed Forces for at least three years or a member of 21 SAS or 23 SAS (which can be joined directly from civilian life) for at least 18 months. All soldiers who apply must have at least 39 months of military service remaining. A candidate who fails any stage of the selection is 'Returned to [his parent] Unit' (RTU' d). Candidates are allowed only two attempts at selection, after which they may never reapply. Many are not even allowed that.
Like other sections of the British armed forces, the SAS accepts members from the Commonwealth and The Republic of Ireland, with notable representation from Fiji, the former Rhodesia, New Zealand and Australia.
The Parachute Regiment is the SAS's main recruiting.

u can not apply as in go to a careers office u have to have served priviesly or still serving personnel... if u wanted u wud have to go speak to ur CO and he wud then put u thought physical etc to see if he thought u was fit enough. if so ur name wud be passed on to MOD and to the SAS selection.. btw 100 ppl go to selection only 1or 2 pass its very hard but gud luck
I seriously doubt you know what the SAS is about. A couple people die every time they go through training potential SAS. It's no joke and you can't just apply, you have to be in the military and you have to be THE BEST.
you need to have served at least two years in a branch of the military and be recommended by your C.O. to be considered for selection.
You can't apply for the sas you get chosen from within the forces
You need to be in sevice to apply.
